K-9 Working Seminar and Certification (2014-22)

Trainers from The Netherlands and the United States, Internationally Certified Decoys, and Subject Matter Experts will provide students with up-to-date training techniques that are both applicable and realistic for law enforcement deployments.  The trainer line-up has over 150 years of combined Law Enforcement K-9 Training and working experience.  This seminar will benefit both K-9 Handlers and K-9 Trainers, as well as those looking to decoy for police dogs.  

This event will include a free flow training curriculum with various areas of training occurring both day and night.  This event will combine lecture, classroom, and practical exercise / scenarios that will allow each attendee to minimize downtime and maximize the availability of training opportunities. Each subject matter expert will provide attendees with a prepared curriculum that will prove job related.

    TJ Westrik

    TJ Westrik began training KNPV dogs at the age of fourteen and bought his first dog for certification (base certificate) when he was fifteen years old, achieving the best results in Holland for that time. Two years later he certified at the level of PH I. He currently trains three times a week for the KNPV Association at Canine Club D.S.S. www.knpv.nl, Afdeling Friesland.  TJ is a certified decoy for the KNPV and the Royal Dutch Police, certified instructor for the Royal Dutch Police Canine Unit for the Northern region of Holland, and serves as the lead instructor for decoy work. 

    TJ Westrik is a proven decoy and very effective instructor.  His training has taken him around the world to train handlers and decoys, provided him the opportunity to train many dogs, and influence the careers of many handlers.  

    TJ will be providing all decoy training at this event, which will also include an issued decoy certification for all partipants that complete all requirements.

    Nic Westrik

    Began training KNPV dogs at the age of 14 after receiving his first dog from his father, who was also a police officer.  He purchased his first KNPV dog for certification (PH I) at the age of 16; thereafter, certifying a total twelve KNPV dogs as PH I and four dogs achieving certification as PH I and II. 

    Nic currently trains KNPV dogs at Canine Club D.S.S. www.knpv.nl Afdeling Friesland of which he is the co-owner and co-operator. He is a certification Judge for the KNPV Association (security and police dogs), and possesses over 25 years of service as a sergeant in charge of the Frisian Canine Unit, consisting of fifteen canine handlers serving Northern Holland where he was responsible for the selection, purchase, and training of all unit dogs as well as the selection, supervision, and training of all handlers.

    Gary Clifton
    VP of Tactical Operations

    Gary served in the UK military for 23 years. His career commenced with 5 years as a Royal Marines Commando followed by 18 years in the elite Special Boat Service (SBS) and culminated in 3 years undercover work within a terrorist organization while working for MI-6.
    Gary has served as an instructor on the Joint Special Forces Training Team and as the Chief Instructor for the Counter Terrorist Wing. He has a range of highly specialized and proven skills, which have been engaged in counter narcotics operations, counter sabotage, hostage rescue, protection details and long term undercover operations in hostile environments against terrorist organizations. Gary has spent the last 9 years working in the private security sector and is a certified Law Enforcement Officer in the United States.
